JSONL Validator

Validate each nonempty line of a JSON Lines file.

How to use JSONL Validator

  1. Paste JSON Lines text or choose a .jsonl, .ndjson, or .txt file. Put one complete JSON value on each nonempty line.
  2. Select Validate JSONL lines. Blank lines are counted and ignored; each other line is parsed independently.
  3. Use the reported line numbers to fix errors and validate again. When at least one line is valid and none are invalid, download the validated JSONL file.

What this tool does

A valid JSON line is not necessarily valid against an application schema.

Example

These two lines are valid JSONL: {"id":1} followed by {"id":2}. If the second line is {"id":}, the report identifies line 2 as invalid.

Frequently asked questions

Does a valid line mean the record matches my schema?

No. This tool checks JSON syntax only; it does not compare keys or values with an application schema.

Are blank lines errors?

No. Blank lines are ignored during parsing and included in the blank-line count.
